The narrator remembered a day in lobby of the Hay market stores. All around were dogs waiting patiently and peacefully for the return of their owners shopping inside.
Then a sweet young lady with a meek-looking little fox-terrier entered and left him between the bulldog and a poodle. The fox-terrier looked at the bulldog and then the poodle. He bit the poodle's foreleg and a yelp of agony went round the quiet lobby.Things became lively all of a sudden, every dog started fighting with each other and there was a perfect pandemonium and terrific din all round.Men came with poles and ropes and tried to separate the dogs, and police were sent for.
In the midst of the riot, that sweet lady returned and snatched up her sweet little fox-terrier into her arms and caressed him.She said that people at the stores had no right to allow savage digs to be put with respectable people's dogs . And with this she went away
