When Maddie and Peggy entered class, they were amazed to see beautiful drawings of dresses and motorboats all around the class for the competition. Everyone in Room Thirteen was eagerly waiting for its results, especially Peggy, who knew that she would win. Miss Mason announces Jack Beggles to be the winner of the boys' competition for designing motorboats. On the girls' side, Miss Mason says that most of the girls submitted one or two drawings of dresses, but one girl submitted hundred of them, and also says that she should be the pride of Room Thirteen. The winner of the girls' medal was none other than Wanda Petronski, but since she was absent on the same day the teacher could not send her the medal. The class filed around her designs and even the boys stomped their feet and whistled, though they were not interested in dresses. Maddie and Peggy even found the blue and green dresses Wanda talked about, and Peggy admitted the fact that Wanda was exemplary.
