3. There was a general uprising in Ngu An and Ha Tien provinces where thousands of Catholics were killed.
4. Even though Catholic missionaries were present from early seventeenth century, they had converted 300,000 people by the mid-eighteenth century.
5. Even though the French crushed the movement, it became an inspiration for other patriots to protest.
