The situation of textile industry in India was very good before the industrialisation in Britain . After the development of cotton industries in Britain indian textiles had now to compete with textiles in European and American market. Exporting goods to England also became very difficult because high duty was placed on the Indian textiles. This made many weavers unemployed.
