The condition of France was very poor before the revolution took place as the population was divided on the basis of estate the different division were -:

1) clergy - They enjoyed the previlege by birth and exempted to give tax

2) nobility- They also enjoyed birth previlege

as well as fudal privilege. They are also exempted to give tax

3) third estate (common people) - They composed nearly about 80%of the population.this section was very poor but they have to pay tax

The French king Louis XVI at a time of revolution increased the price and taxes to maintain treasury because of this act many people died from starvation
