The French Society was mainly divided into three classes - aristocrats, clergy and the common people. The aristocrats were the people who ruled. The clergymen included the priests and lawmakers while the common men were the small traders, merchants and workers. While the first two classes lived an extravagant life, the condition of the third class was menial and they're burdened with the load of taxes and carried the other two classes on their shoulders.
