From cities the Non- Coperation Movement spread to the countryside. It drew into its fold the struggles of peasants and tribals whic were developing i. different parts in the yeara after the war.
i) The movement was primarily against talukdars and landlords who demanded for the peasants high rents. By swaraj they understand that they would not be required to pay any taxes and that land would we redistributed.
ii) In Awadh, peasants were led by Baba Ramchandra sanyasi who had earlier been to fiji as an indentured labourer.
iii) Alluri Sitaram Raju was a tribal peasant leader. During the days of Non- Cooperation Movement, he led the tribal people in the Gudem Hills of Andhra Pradesh
