Ikhriaruddin Mohammad Bakhtiar khilji occupied North and controlled the power from 1204-1206. After the death of Khilji in 1206, Turkey sultans expanded Muslim rule from 1206-1338. Sultans of Delhi were established in 3 is sections. They were. called Iqleem in Persian language. It means province. "Iqleem lakhnouti" in north,"Iqleem Satgaon" in the west and "Iqleem Sonargaon" in the east was established. In 1338, dye to a rebel by Fakhruddin Mobarrakh Shah independent sultanate lasted up to 1538. Humayun captured Lakhnouti in 1538 and was driven by afghan ruler Sher Khan. In 1576 Emperor Akbar captured many parts of north and west. Mughal rule continued up to Nawab Alibardee Khan who died in 1756 and handed rule to the last mughal ruler his grandson Siraj udaolah. After been defeated by a conspiracy on the battle of Plassey in 1757, it was the end of the mughal rule.

Administration during the Delhi Sultanate was based on the laws of the Shariat or the laws of Islam. Political, legal and military authority was vested in the Sultan. Thus military strength was the main factor in succession of throne. Administrative units were, Iqta, Shiq, Paraganaa and Gram.
