Describe the steps or procedure of mendals experiments with suitable example
Answers
Hey mate here is your answer;
The steps or procedure fo mendel experiment are:
a. His choice of plants as pea plant (pisum sativum) for his breeding experiment was excellent. He further selected only pure breeding varieties for his experiment.
b. Mendel kept complete record of every cross.
c. He also used statistical methods and law of probability for finalising his result.
d. Mendel performed his experiment in three stages
i. He made sure that his plant were pure breed ( 14 varieties for 7 pairs of constrating characters )
ii. This stage was to hybridise the plant. He made several crosses by dusting the pollen of one kind, on the stigmas of plants of another kind.
iii. In this stage of Mendel experiment was to let the F1 plants pollinate them selves.plants thus produced were called "second filial" or F2 generation. Similarly F3, F4, etc., we are obtained.
EXAMPLE - A monohybride cross between pea plant bearing "axial flowers " (AA) and a pea plant bearing "terminal flowers " (aa). If two pure varieties are crossed together, in first filial generation (F1) a heterozygous or hybrid is produce with genotype of "Aa". Plant appears with axial flowers. In F2 generation, two varieties appearsin the ratio of 3:1 i.e., three plant with axial flowers and one plant with terminal flowers.
Hope this helps you. . . . .
