FUNCTIONS

The cerebrum is the major structure in the brain, composed of a right and left hemisphere. Each hemisphere works together to control both sides of the body. Within the hemispheres are regions we call lobes. The four lobes include the occipital, temporal, frontal, and parietal lobes.

STRUCTURE

The brain has three main parts: the cerebrum, cerebellum and brainstem. Cerebrum: is the largest part of the brain and is composed of right and left hemispheres. It performs higher functions like interpreting touch, vision and hearing, as well as speech, reasoning, emotions, learning, and fine control of movement.

The cerebrum is a large, folded mass of nervous tissue that makes up the majority of the human brain. Many ridges of cerebral tissue, called gyri (singular: gyrus), extend from the surface of the cerebrum and are bordered by grooves in the cerebrum. It is the seat of intelligence.
