The nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea and bronchi all work like a system of pipes through which the air is funnelled down into our lungs. There, in very small air sacs called alveoli, oxygen is brought into the bloodstream and carbon dioxide is pushed from the blood out into the air.

Human respiratory system consists of following parts:-
- NOSE - It has two openings called nostrils open into nasal cavity that contains tiny hair to trap dust. Mucous is prevent to moisten the inhaled air.
- PHARYNX - It his the common part of food pipe and wind pipe.
- LARYNX- It is also called voice box. It is the opening of wind pipe. It is guarded by epiglottis. Epiglottis is a flap that cover the wind pipe during swallowing of food.
- WIND PIPE- It is also called trachea. It has C-shaped cartilenous rings to prevent collapsing of wind pipe.
- BRONCHI- Trachea is divided into two branches called bronchi,that enters into each lung.
- LUNGS- There are 2 lungs. Bronchi after entering into lungs divide into many branches called bronchioles.. Each bronchiole has a air sac at its end called alveoli. Alveoli has blood vessels in its walls. Air enter in blood through alveoler walls.
