Rib cage consists of 12 pairs of ribs , sternum ,xiphoid process,costal cartilages and 12 thoracic vertebrae.It protects heart, lungs and diaphragrm.It provides a framework on which the muscles of the shoulder girdle, chest, upar abdomen and back can attach.It also plays important role in the respiration.
