spinal cord is covered by seat called meninges, which are membrane in nature. meninges are Dura mater, Pia mater and Arachnoid mater.

length of spinal cord is about 45 in males and about 43 in females.

1 cervical segment /cervical spinal nerves-8

2 thoracic segment /thoracic spinal nerves- 12

3 lumbar segment /lumbar spinal nerves- 5

4 sacral segment/ sacral spinal nerves -5

5 coccyx-1

total nerves spinal cord=31pair.
