Structure and function of nucleus:

The nucleus is the brain of a cell. It is present in most eukaryotic cells and absent in prokaryotic cells. Red blood cells are devoid of nucleus. A nucleus is covered with the nuclear membrane.

This contains the nucleoplasm which contains various components which are chromatin, nucleolus, etc. Nucleolus is the place responsible for storing genetic and DNA substances. The nucleus is responsible for major activities of the cell such as division, cell metabolism and overall protein synthesis of the body.
