Answer:-

Discovered by:-

The Golgi apparatus or Golgi body was discovered by Camillo Golgi.

Structure:-

The Golgi apparatus is a cluster of single membrane bound small vesicles, large vacuoles and cisternae(flattened membrane disc). Many curved, flat, sac-shaped cisternae are arranged parallely along with large vacuoles and small vesicles. This structure gives rise to the Golgi apparatus. The convex face of Golgi body maintains connection with the Endoplasmic reticulum by some tubules.

Functions:-

1] The Golgi body helps in the formation of new cell wall.

2] It takes part in the secretion of enzymes, mucous, hormones etc.

3] Golgi apparatus helps in the synthesizing of glycolipids, glycoproteins and complex sugars.

4] It helps in the formation of acrosome cap of sperms and lysosomes.
