They have their own DNA and ribosomes and are double membraned

They can be of 3 types:

Leucoplasts: White in colour and help in storage of food(starch, oils etc.)

Chromoplasts: Can be of various colours (brown, red , yellow)

Chloroplasts: Are green in colour due to presence of chlorophyll. They perform photosynthesis.
