before ovulation, the stage when first meiotic division is completed is called as graffian follicle. in rabbits, graffian follicle is actually a fluid filled sac in which a egg develops before ovulation.

it is also called as ovarian follicle. the graffian follicle has two major functions one is the maturation and second one is to release ovum. it also aid in the formation of corpus leuteum.
