mitochondria is the power house of cell invented by C- benda..it is not easily visible under microscope. it has sausage shape having diameter of 0.2-1.0micro metre.it is double wall organelle the space between the two walls is intermembrane space and the space enclosed by inner wall is matrix . the inner wall of mitochondria is folded towards inside to increase the surface area and the folded structure is called cristae. mitochondria has its own single circular DNA,RNA and ribosome.

Both walls have their own enzyme and they are the site of aerobic respiration.
