The nucleus is considered the brain of the cell. It is surrounded by the nuclear membrane. The nucleus is filled with a jelly like substance called nucleoplasm. Chromosomes are located within the nucleus. Chromosomes consists of DNA, which contains heredity information and instructions for cell growth, development, and reproduction. The nucleus also contains a nucleolus which is a dense structure of RNA and protein.
