it is an important content of the living cell. It is usually spherical in shape and is located at the center of a cell. Nucleus is seperated from the cytoplasm by a membrane called the nuclear membrane. This membrane is porous and allows the exchange of materials between the cytoplasm and the nucleus. cells may have or may not have nuclear membrane.

Nuclear material contains thread like structures called chromosomes the chromosomes can be seen only when the cell divides.

Along the length of a chromosome genes are present. genes help in the inheritance of transfer of characterstics from the parents to the next generation. As there is inheritance of characters of both father and mother, The offspring may have some characters of the father and some of the mother.
