Hello friend ...

Here is your answer ...

The Great Bath is part of a large citadel complex that was found in the 1920s during excavations of Mohenjo-daro, one of the main centres of the Indus civilization. The bath is built of fine brickwork and measures 897 square feet (83 square metres). It is 8 feet (2.5 metres) lower than the surrounding pavement.

Answer:

The Great Bath of Mohenjodaro has remained a timeless piece of enigmatic structure for archaeologists.

It is perhaps, the single, one of its kind, large public bath found in the Harappan cities.

Archaeologists believe that the Bath provided some form a ritual utility and people bathed in it with a spiritual meaning - that perhaps had a spiritual cleansing effect on the being of the bathers.

If we look for a similarity with the present day Hindu beliefs, water is said to have purifying qualities - it has a greater spiritual meaning. And is commonly used in ritual purposes.

Also, many Hindu temples, especially in South India have temple tanks. And many of the rivers such as Ganga are considered sacred.

Though we still don't have complete understanding about the spiritual beliefs of the Harappans, it is believed that they were close to Nature - and especially Water - afterall the river Indus was their lifeline..

So, water could have had a spiritual and ritual meaning for the Harrapans too, and hence, the best explanation we currently have is that the Great Bath served a ritual purpose.

The presence of room like structure all around the Bath gives it a picture that is different from an ordinary pool.

This is the best conjecture that we currently have till the time we come to know more about the spiritual life of Harappans.

Hope will be helpful ☺️
