Uncle Tom is a depiction of such a character because the aim of the author was that this character must be shown in a sympathetic way.

For example, he is shown as a man with dignity even if he does not possess money. He is compared to the white supremists who are supposed to be superior than him and people of his kind. But he is better in his moral character.

Uncle Tom is a brave and strong man For instance, when he saves the life of Eva. That may be used as an example of his virtue and bravery.
