ABSTRACT
This theoretical and bibliographic work aims to discuss the relationship between pedagogical practice developed in Early Childhood Education and the formation of a child's personality. It is based on assumptions of the Cultural-Historical Theory and seeks to answer, primarily, the following questions: What is personality?; What are the driving forces of its development process in the first years of life of a child?; What are the specificities of the work of Early Childhood Education teachers, and how can pedagogical activity contribute to the development of a child's personality? To do so, we intend to think over some essential principles of a teaching work capable of impelling a child's comprehensive formative process in Early Childhood Education. We consider that, with the consolidation of pedagogical practices that mediate the relationships between children and culture, it is possible to organize activities focusing on different dimensions of human development and personality.
