Story : The Chinese Statue - Jeffery Areher
The Chinese Statue is a splendid story. It exposes the ignorance and hollowness of those person who prefers to be lovers of art and beauty. It has a nice twist at the end.The ivory statue of Emperor Kung which Alexander Heathcote got from an old craftsman of Village Ha LiChuan remained to his family as the heirloom representing the Ming Dynasty art.It is considered to be centuries old however when it was assessed by experts it was found to be only two hundred or two hundred fifty year old.

The story beautifully juxtaposes the appearance versus truth and pride versus selfishness. In the end, with the sale of the statue, a story and its fabled history are sold just to corral some monetary benefits.
