The French society was divided into 3 divisions that were - CLERGY, NOBILITY and 3rd ESTATE.
CLERGY consisted of the high priesrs and they didn't have to pay taxes.
The 3rd Estate conssisted of peasants, farmars lawyers ,etc. and they all had to pay taxes .
