Based on their location in the plant body, meristematic tissues are of three types.........1 apical meristem---a) occurs at the tips of shoots and roots                              b) brings about an increase in length of object
2 lateral meristem---a)occurs on the sides almost parallel to the long axis of the root, stems and its branches(as a cambium)
                                 b)brings about an increase in the width or girth of the organs


3  intercalary meristem---a) occurs at the base of internodes      in mono-cots(grasses)
                                          b) brings about increase in the length of internode .
