He was self centred as he went on killing tigers just to prove a prediction incorrect.

  • The question has been asked from the story The Tiger King by Kalki.
  • The king of Pratibandapuram was very excited to kill his first tiger.  After killing first tiger, he showed the head to his astrologer who in turn said him to kill 99 more tigers.
  • The astrologer further told that he will give up on his astrology and become an insurance agent.  This is when the Maharaja took an oath to kill 100 tigers without caring about nature.
  • In the story, The Maharaja went on killing tigers just for his pride, without considering the damage to nature. The killing of so many tigers led to its extinction in various states.
  • The author sends across the message that it is the duty of every ruler or a leader the welfare of its citizens keeping aside their own pride.

The tiger king was neither a good father, nor a good husband and nor a good human being. His selfishness did not let him do his duties to his son, wife and the people responsibly. He was only obsessed about his own safety. He sacrificed everything for killing tigers. He did not give time to his son, wife and people until he had killed all the hundred tigers. He ignored his son, wife, and people of his kingdom for his own vested interests. All his decisions were influenced by his quest for tigers. He did not use any wisdom and logic. He was self-centered man, father, and husband.
