Their are 2 types of root system :-

  1. Tap root system
  2. Fibrous root system

{ \sf{ \underline{Tap \: Root \: System}}}

Taproots have a main central root upon which, small, lateral roots called root hairs are attached.

EXAMPLE:-

  • Mustard
  • Carrot
  • Beetroot
  • Parsley
  • China rose and all dicotyledons

{ \sf{ \underline{Fibrous \: Root \: System}}}

Fibrous roots, on the other hand, are bushy roots in which thin, moderately branching roots grow from the stem.

EXAMPLE :-

  • Rice
  • Wheat
  • Maize
  • Marigold
  • Banana and all monocotyledons

Adventitious roots:-

✒Adventitious roots are plant roots that form from any nonroot tissue and are produced both during normal development (crown roots on cereals and nodal roots on strawberry [Fragaria spp.]) and in response to stress conditions, such as flooding, nutrient deprivation, and wounding.
