Veld name given to various types of open country in Southern Africa that is used for pasturage and farmland.It is a flat area covered in grass or low scrub.The climate of this region is highly variable,from mild winters from May to September to hot or very hot summers from November to March, with moderate or considerable variations in daily temperatures and abundant sunshine. Rain occurs in the summer months in the form of thunderstorms. Mining and sheep rearing are main economic activities in veld.
