Answer:

Software piracy exists as the action of stealing software that is legally protected. This stealing contains copying, distributing, altering, or selling the software.

Explanation:

The types of software piracy are as follows:

Softlifting

The most common type of piracy, softlifting, (also named soft loading), indicates sharing a program with somebody who is not authorized by the license contract to operate it. A common form of softlifting involves buying a single licensed replication of the software and then loading the software onto several computers, in violation of licensing terms.

Hard disk loading

Often committed by hardware dealers, this form of piracy concerns loading an unauthorized copy of software onto a computer being sold to the end-user. This causes the deal more pleasing to the buyer, at virtually no cost to the dealer.

Renting

Renting concerns someone renting out a copy of the software for temporary use, without the authorization of the copyright holder. The method, comparable to that of renting a video from Blockbuster, breaks the license agreement of the software.

OEM unbundling

Often just named "unbundling," this format of piracy indicates selling stand-alone software originally meant to be included with a precise accompanying product. An example of this form of piracy is someone furnishing drivers to a specific printer without permission.

Counterfeiting

Counterfeiting represents producing fake copies of the software, creating it look original. This involves supplying the box, CDs, and manuals, all created to look as much like the original product as possible. Microsoft products are the ones most generally counterfeited, because of their overall use.

Online piracy

The fastest-growing form of piracy exists as Internet piracy. With the growing number of users online, and with the rapidly growing connection speeds, the sale of software on the Internet has attracted an expansive following. In the past, bulletin board systems (BBS) existed as the only place where one could download pirated software.
