Udasis of Guru Nanak Dev Ji:
- Guru Nanak started his udasis (traveling) after gaining spiritual awakening. The main objective for these udasis has been to reveal the true direction to the mistaken souls.
- He also wanted to criticize meaningless customs and incantations through his transcendent wisdom, Guru Nanak went long and far to eradicate the obscurity of indifference.
- Guru Nanak Sahib's First Udasi commenced in around 1500 A.D. He went to visit India's east and south regions. Bhai Mardana went with him during that time.
- Guru Nanak began his second visit in 1514 A.D. After having spent some time with his family. This time he moved towards the northern region. He was accompanied in this trip by Hasu, a blacksmith, and Siha Chhimba, in 1517 A.D.
- Guru Nanak went on his Third Udasi. He was wearing a blue attire this time like that of a Muslim Haji. He toured Western Asia during the whole Udasi. He was accompanied also by Mardana.
- In the year 1521 A.D, the last Udasi was completed by Guru Nanak. He also visited Kartarpur in Punjab later. He was an ideal family person for the last 18 years in Kartarpur.
- He settled along with his family in 1522 A.D. at Kartarpur. He stayed there until his very last breath.
- He wrote Bani such as Var Malhar, Var-Majh, Varasa, JapujiSahib, Onkar, Patti, Thit and BaraMah, etc., at Kartarpur. By doing so Guru Nanak gave a definite structure to his preaching.
