The peninsular pleatue is a table land. it is composed of the oldest rocks because it was formed from the drifted part of the Gondwana land.
Broad and shallow valleys and rounded hills are the characteristic features of this pleatue.
The pleatue can be broadly divided into three regions.
1.The central highlands.
2.The Deccan pleatue.
3. The western and eastern ghats. .

(i) The Indian plateau is also known as the Peninsular plateau as it is surrounded by the sea on three sides.
(ii) Large amounts of Metallic and Non - Metallic mineral Resources are found here.
(iii) It's Topography is slighty tilted towards East.
(iv) It's two two divisions are Central Highlands (Malwa plateau) and the Deccan plateau.
(v) The rivers here are not Perennial.
(vi) The Triangular landmass to the south of Narmada is called Deccan Plateau.
