Classification of Resources : On the basis of Origin For example, trees, animals, insects, etc. Abiotic Resources: All non-living things present in our environment are termed as abiotic resources. For example – earth, air, water, metals, rocks, etc.

1) On the basis of development resources can be classified into 2 groups that are :-

a) Actual resources :- Actual resources are those resources whose quantity      

                                     is  known and are being used in the present .   E.G = DARK SOIL, PETROLEUM 

b) Potential resources :- Potential resources are those resources whose              

                                        entire  quantity may nit be known and are not in

                                        use in the present     E.G= URANIUM                                 

2) On the basis of origin resources can be classified into 2 groups that are :-

a) Abiotic resources :- Abiotic resources are non-living  resources    E.G= SOIL AND ROCKS

b) Biotic resources :- Biotic resources are living. resources  

                                 E.G =PLANTS AND ANIMALS

3)On the basis of stock resources can be classified into 2 groups that are:-

a) Renewable resources :- Renewable resources are those which get  

                                             renewed or replenish quickly.

                                            E.G = SOLAR AND WIND ENERGY.

b)Non-renewable resources :- Non-renewable resources are those which

                                                   have limited stock.

                                  E.G = COAL AND PETROLEUM.

4) On the basis of distribution resources can be classified into 2 groups that are :-

a) Ubiquitous resources :- Ubiquitous resources are  resources that are

                                           found everywhere.

                                           E.G=  AIR, SUNLIGHT

b) Localised resources :- Localised resources are resources that are found

                                          at a specific place.

                                           E.G = GOLD, DIAMOND
