The wastewater treatment involves the removal of physical,chemical and biological pollutants from wastewater.
This is done in several steps :
- Passing through bar screens - To remove large objects.
- Removal of grot and sand by allowing the wastewater to stand in a tank.
- Sludge removal - It is done in large circular tanks. The sediment and the floating matter are removed.
- The clarified water is subjected to aeration. Herr aerobic bacteria decompose biodegradable pollutants.
- The clean water is either disposed off into river/sea , or disinfected with chlorine before distributing to the users.
