Binary fission completes in four steps.

Step 1

Chromosome replication: Tightly wounded DNA of the cell, first begins to lose and elongate. Then specialized proteins get access to DNA and replicate it. As a result, the duplicate copy of the chromosome comes into existence.

Step 2

Cell growth: Following chromosome replication, the cell began to grow in size. The increase in size is accompanied by the increase in the cytoplasmic content of the cell and its organelles.

Step 3

Chromosome segregation: The copies of the DNA move in the opposite direction of the cell. It is the stage when chromosomes completely separate.

Step 4

Cell splitting: Now cell begins to enlarge and is ready to divide. The division of the cell eventually divides the bacterium completely into half. This is called cytokinesis. Now there are two daughter cells that each contain separate chromosomes and organelle.
