At  first, the narrator tries to dispose the road engine by trying to sell it but no one was interested to buy it. He then gave it off to somebody because he has to pay the rent for parking it at the a Gymkhana ground.

The narrator intended to transport the engine through an elephant. He had won an engine at the fair, and in order to keep it at the Gymkhana Grounds, the writer had to pay rent. Eventually, the fairgrounds' administrators insist that the narrator immediately turn off his engine. The narrator's problems with the road engine have been resolved as a result of the earthquake. To make matters worse, the narrator has been compensated for any losses he may have incurred while attempting to move or dispose of the road engine.
