⟶Types of Rainfall :-

→ Convectional rainfall

→ Orographic or relief rainfall

→ Cyclonic or frontal rainfall

⟶Convectional rainfall :-

  • Convectional rainfall occurs when the energy of the sun heats the surface of the Earth, causing water to evaporate to form water vapour.
  • When the land heats up, it warms the air above it.
  • This causes the air to expand and rise. As the air rises it cools and condenses.

⟶Orographic or relief rainfall :-

  • Relief rainfall, also known as orographic rainfall, occurs in areas where land increases in height.
  • Relief rainfall is formed when the air cools as it rises over relief features in the landscape such as hills or mountains.
  • As the air rises, it cools, condenses and forms rain.

⟶Cyclonic or frontal rainfall :-

  • Frontal (or Cyclonic) Rain is caused by cyclonic activity and it occurs along the fronts of the cyclone.
  • It is formed when two masses of air of different temperature, humidity and density meets.
  • As the warm air rises, it cools, and the moisture present in it condenses to form clouds altostratus clouds.

Answer:

There are four types of rainfall and they are

Explanation:

Convectional rainfall:

1. When warm air comes in contact with the hot air surface of the earth, it gets

heated becomes light and rises up as air currents.

2. After warm air reaches the upper layer of the atmosphere, it expands and losses  heat.

3.  This leads to condensation and causes heavy rainfall.

Orographic rainfall:

1.  When a mountain or a hill comes in part of moisture air mass is forced to ascend  along its slope.

2.  As the air masses rises upwards cooling takes place which leads to condensation  and causes rainfall than the leeward side.

Cyclonic rainfall:

1.  It is forces with cyclones in the tropical region when warm and cold air mass meet  the lighter warm air over rise the cold air.

2.  The boundary between the two air masses is known as front.

3. So, condensation takes place and causes rainfall.
