ANSWER:

There are in total nine types of artificial satellites. They are

1. Communications Satellite - Their main use is in communication medium such as electronic mails  

2. Remote Sensing Satellite - There are altogether ten remote sensing satellites launched by India till date

3. Navigation Satellite - They are used in finding the smallest of routes on the planet.

4. Geocentric Orbit type satellites - They orbit around the earth  

5. Global Positioning System (GPS) - They are used in global positioning of electronic gadgets  

The other types of satellites are Geostationary Satellites (GEOs), Drone Satellite, Ground Satellite , Polar Satellite, Nano Satellites.
