Varna System, as it is existed during mahajanpadas, was the system according to which the society was divided into 4 categories according to their executing works. ie firstly..
Brahmans these were who doing and involving to worshipping God and had have knowledge about Vedas etc.
secondary were Kshatriya.. they were generally maharajas who ruled over the subjects.
and third one was Vaishya;
they were tradesmen who generally involved in business activities.
and fourth one was Shudras.
They were the lowest unit of this Varna system
they were treated as untouchable persons
and were involved in doing activities like farming,labouring and so on.
And sorry if I could not describe it properly.
