The row between Anne and Mr Dussel was over the use of the study table in their room. With her father's permission,Anne had asked Mr Dussel if she could use the table in their room for two afternoons a week from four to five-thirty. She already sat there every day from two-thirty to four while Dussel took a nap, but the rest of the time the room and the table were off-limits to her. It was impossible to study next door in the afternoon, because there was always too much going on and sometimes her father liked to sit at the desk during the afternoon. So it seemed like a reasonable request but Mr Dussel refused outright. He said it would hamper his schedule and also accused her of not being serious in her studies,he refused to share the table with vehemence. The row continued with Anne seething with rage and Dussel being incredibly rude until that evening when she managed to discuss the issue with her father. As Anne tried to resolve the matter with composure and logical reasoning, Dussel grew more and more insolent and insinuating finally leading to Mr Frank's intervention. Thus, it was settled that Anne would get use of the table eventually but see to it that Mr Dussel's schedule was not disturbed. Dussel accepted the resolution reluctantly.
