rocesses often producea high variety of products/services and high-volume operations processes often produce a narrow variety of products/services. The design of any process should be governed by the volume and variety it is required to produce. Depending on those factors, processes will change. No one type of process design is best for all types of requirement in all circumstancesvariety positions require different processes:- project process- jobbing process- batch process- mass process- continuous processj)Explain the link between operations performance objectives & process design objectives.k)Explain the 5 process types in manufacture? OR the 3 process types in Service .-> Manufacture types:- project processes: low volume/high variety. Complex process. Deals with discrete, usually highly customized products, long timescale.- jobbing processes: high variety/low volumes. Can be relatively complex, physically smaller products, sometimes requires considerable skills. Ex made-to-measure.- batch processes: produces more than one item at a time. Only two or three items produced. Can be fairly repetitive. Wide range of volume/wide range of variety. EX: automobiles.- mass processes: high volume/ narrow variety.. Repetitive activity and largely predictable. - continuous processes: higher volume and lower variety than mass processes. Operate for longer period of time. Production in endless flow. Ex: water processing or electricity utilities
