The three pairs of walking legs are similar and they help the cockroach in its cursorial (fast running) habit.
Each of the leg consists of five segments - a large basal coxa, smaller trochanter, femur, tibia, and the last segment is a tarsus having five movable joints or podomeres or tarsomeres.
