Describe the watch incident in chapter 11 of Three Men in a boat

Once George was staying in the house of Mrs.Gippings. He had forgotten to wind up his watch, and it had stopped ata a quarter past eight. It was winter, and it was still dark when he woke up.He looked at his watch. It was a quarter past eight. He had a cold bath and dressed himself.The watch had been shaken.Now it was twenty minutes to nine by it.He rushed out of the house, and ran hard for a quarter of a mile. There were hardly any people on the street and no shop was open. Then he saw three men, one of them was a policemen.It was three o clock , whereas George watch showed nine.
George went back home tried to sleep again but he was unable. Then he again went for a strolll on a road. Two plain clothed policemen suspected him , ask him his address and follwed him to see if he lived where he said. He unlocked the door and went in while the policemen stood outside the home.
After that George tried to make tea , but he was feared if the noise wake up Mrs. Gippings. Thus he leave that idea of making tea also.
