George and Harris thought themselves as better packer than Jerome, the narrator, but they were even worse than him.
They decided to pack hampers and began with light hearted spirit to show, how packing is done, to Jerome. The first thing they did was breaking a cup. According to narrator, they did so, to grab the attention of him. After that Harris packed strawberry jam on the top of a tomato and squashed it. In the same way, they packed pies at the bottom and put heavy things on top later. George trod on the butter. After removing it from slipper, he tried to put it in kettle and scrapped the whole thing. Then he out the butter on chair and Harris sat on it. They started search for it everywhere and after a while George found it stuck on his back.
They created a huge mess rather than packing. They can be considered as worst packers in the story.
