The majority of people living during the Middle Ages lived in the country and worked as farmers. Usually there was a local lord who lived in a large house called a manor or a castle. Local peasants would work the land for the lord. The peasants were called the lord's "villeins", which was like a servant.

The way of life of the people during medieval are as follows:
- The medieval community was mainly Christian, agrarian, and feudal. While the Church manipulated a crucial function in forming a community.
- Life was difficult, with insufficient food and small satisfaction.
- Women were inferior to men, in both the peasant and grand categories, and wanted to secure the smooth running of the family and home.
- Children had a 50% survival ratio below the age of one and started to participate in family life approximately at age of twelve.
- In the Middle Ages, stuff was unique. Although cities prevailed, there weren't several of them, and the enormous plurality of people resided and laboured in villages. A mediaeval city was formally established where main highways joined, or near a bridge. Towns were recognized for trading goods.
