It can be dried out for safe storage in long term. It can also be stored in a air tight container and stored in a fridge. It can also be stored at room temperature if it is bread of some sort. But only for a short term before it starts to mold.

Food is passed with radioactive rays. It is also added with salt and oil so that it remains fresh for limited time. It is also added with vinegar so that bacteria do not enter it as it is acidic in nature. They are also kept in air tight containers so that moisture can not enter and reacts with edibles, there are many other ways but these are which we see in day to day life.
