When their greedy and cunning neighbourcame to know about the how the oldman got wealth, they captured the dog so that they could also get treasure. However their plan failed and so they killed his dog. But the old man and his did not scold the neighbor. They just wept for their pet, kept some food, burnt incense and adorned its grave with flowers. They also showed his kindness to his envious neighbours, as they were distressed, by giving their neighbour a share of their own riches.
