Tropical Evergreen Forest


these forests are restricted to very heavy rainfall

these forest are found in the areas of the Western Ghats and the island groups of Andaman and Nicobar, lakshadweep, upper parts of Tamil nadu etc

some of the important trees in this forest are ebony, mahogany, rosewood,and ruber

the trees reach great heights up to 60metres or even above.

the common animals found in there forest are elephants, monkey, lemurs,and deer.

there is no definite time for trees to shed their leaves


Tropical Deciduous Forest


these are the most widespread forest of India

they are also called the monsoon forest

they are found in the region receiving rainfall between 200cm and 70cm

trees of this forest-type shed their leaves for about six to eight weeks in dry summer

tropical deciduous forest is further divided in to two:
moist deciduous
dry deciduous

they are found in eastern part of the country, west orissa, jharkhand, and chhattisgarh.

teak is the most important tree in this forest

other trees are sandalwood, khair, bamboo, Sal, shisham, mulberry etc

common animals found in which forest are lion, tiger, pig, deer and elephant.
