Central Highlands- Located north of the Narmada River.Includes the Chotanagpur plateau(Jharkhand,Chattisgarh),parts of Madhya Pradesh,parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat(east of the Aravalli Ranges).It is rich in minerals.

Deccan Plateau-Located south of the Narmada River.Bordered by the Western and Eastern Ghats.It is mainly composed of black soil.

the deccan plateau lies to the south of vindhya and satpura range and forms the southern part of peninsular plateau. the deccan plateau slopes to the east and is drained by rivers such as Mahanadi, godavari, Krishna and kaveri.
