Domestic violence is a violation of  human rights.

Explanation:

  • In general, domestic violence means 'all acts of physical, sexual, psychological or economic violence'  which is perpetrated by family members or partners. These act are considered as an abuse to human rights - that is, the right to life and right to live peacefully and free from exploitation and abuse
  • A domestic violence law will shield a person who is subjected to domestic violence either from their family member or their partner from future harassment and prohibit the abuser from returning home and calling that person. If the perpetrator is not in compliance with the Order, they can be taken to court & arrested. This way the person protected under the Domestic Violence act  can protect their human rights and live safely
